児玉：十字ができた後に答えると、次の人に角を取られる可能性が出てくるんです。すると、角を取るまで答えない人がいるんですよ。一時、いくら問題出しても全員答えないときがあって。中には、わざと間違って立ったり。
阿川：えーっ！
児玉：僕は「この番組はこれで終わったか」と思ったの。で、スタッフがいろいろ考えたんだけど、そういう時はものすごくやさしい問題を出すんです。
阿川：「日本で一番高い山は何ですか？」なんて（笑）。
児玉：そうそう、そんな問題を続けたり（笑）。解答者との攻防戦があったの。
児玉：ところが、策を練った人間っていうのはね、策に溺れるんです。待ちに待って「さあ答えよう」とボタン押したからといっても、４人いるから権利が取れるかどうかはわからない。誤算が出てきてガタガタになる。
阿川：タイミングを待ったのに。
児玉：しかも十字のところで答えなかった人たちが勝てたかというと勝てない。むしろ、そのとき果敢に打って出た人のほうが勝っちゃうケースが出てくる。番組を眺めてた人たちも、そういう推移を見て「策を弄さないほうがいい」と気づいてくれた。
阿川：『アタック２５』だけでドラマができそうですね。
児玉：そうなんです。解答者の最初から終わりまでの心の高まりや動き、迷いをやっただけで大変な人生ですよ。
